[Sorry folks - I've got too many of these little sites on the go. I just haven't got time to update them all, so I'm 'freezing' this one! I've made a few posts about my local walks which you might enjoy reading and I still recommend that you take a look at the stores I link to below. PS I hope that all of you who purchased hiking shoes through my links enjoy walking in them over the coming months! Regards - Colin]

Hiking Shoes or Hiking Boots?
Most of my walks last from 1 to 6 hours. I like to travel light, and the local terrain, though hilly and rugged, is not what could be called ‘hardcore’. I used to wear hiking boots and they lasted me well but when they finally wore out I decided to try hiking shoes instead. So far, I think it has been a good move. The new shoes are lighter than my boots were and I feel slightly less fatigued after long walks now. If your hiking is similar to mine, shoes might be better for you than boots. There is a huge range of women’s hiking shoes (including sandals and trail running shoes) at the companies I recommend here.
If you are very overweight or going for multi-day hikes carrying a heavy load over rough or mountainous terrain, then you might be better off taking a look at this page – women’s hiking boots. Your feet and ankles will be better supported and protected when wearing boots.
